StoryWalk Community Project - Exercise your brain and your body at the same time...no child left inside! The springtime story is HAPPY GO DUCKY by Jackie Urbanovic.
Can you exercise and read with your family at the same time? Thanks to StoryWalk®, the answer is a definite yes. It was Anne Ferguson from the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Vermont that brainstormed this idea which has taken off in towns throughout the country including here in our hometown of Gillett.
Our library coordinated with the Gillett School District and the City of Gillett's Business Association to set the pages all along the sidewalk in front of Main Street businesses.
Start the StoryWalk at the Gillett Library and follow the story along as you travel up and down Main Street. Our goal is to set up StoryWalks throughout our community. Be sure to check out the StoryWalk that was set up by New View Industries - their story route goes throughout their gardens on the grounds. StoryWalk route: Start at the library, then move east to Harris Bank and the Kevin-Huggett Insurance building. Next cross the street and head west to Gillett Dental Care where 2 pages are posted around the building. Continue west down Main to Meunier's True Value, the Cracked Cup, and Howlin' & Groomin'. Cross the street again to the Cake Lady, and head back east to the Seat Doc, OJ's Midtown Restaurant, Dr. Drake's office, and the Miller-Darrow office building. End back at the Gillett Library where you can post your comments on your StoryWalk adventure!
