THE SRP IS COMING!
THE SRP IS COMING! Our Summer Reading Program begins on June 6th and the theme is "DREAM BIG"! Pre-registration takes place next week from May 29th - June 5th. All who pre-register will be able to choose our Miss Cindy's fate this summer. Will she really have to sleep up on the library's roof? You'll decide!
FANG from the Timber Rattlers will be here this summer as well as some large Egyptian fruit bats; and our Miss Cindy will fill in the rest of the days with fun projects and activities.
Preschoolers will meet on Wednesdays, and grade-schoolers and teens will meet on Fridays (we've flip-flopped days this year due to the GSD summer school classes).

StoryWalk Community Project
Can you exercise and read with your family at the same time? Thanks to StoryWalk®, the answer is a definite yes.
It was Anne Ferguson from the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Vermont that brainstormed this idea which has taken off in towns throughout the country including here in our hometown of Gillett.
The GPL is coordinating with the Gillett School District and the City of Gillett to create StoryWalks throughout the community, and our first StoryWalk was set up along Main Street in early May thanks to help from community families.
Pages from our first book "Sheep Take a Hike" by Nancy Shaw are posted at stations along the route...as you walk, you will be directed to the next page in the story. The story will change throughout the year, and we plan to keep the StoryWalks in place year-round. The GPL plans to set up several StoryWalks throughout the Gillett area, including in Zippel Park. "No Child Left Inside" is the concept. Walk the walk...exercise your body and your brain on this first StoryWalk here in Gillett!
Below is the map of locations where the pages are located. Start at the library, then move east to Harris Bank and the Kevin-Huggett Insurance building. Next cross the street and head west to Gillett Dental Care where 2 pages are posted around the building. Continue west down Main to Meunier's True Value, the Cracked Cup, and Howlin' & Groomin'. Cross the street again to the Cake Lady, and head back east to the Seat Doc, OJ's Midtown Restaurant, Dr. Drake's office, and the Miller-Darrow office building. End back at the Gillett Library where you can post your comments on your StoryWalk adventure!
